Thursday, Oct 20: PROJECT 1
A number of you have expressed difficulty in attempting to tie together all the “Exercise” videos you have shot into ONE Project. Please do not worry!
This first project was devised as a place for you to LEARN, make mistakes, & experiment. Just try and put together a visually interesting video & do not worry about too much about the time (i.e. it may be less than 3 minutes, but NOT less than 30 seconds) nor the final outcome!
Another thought: you may find it easier to link your videos together ‘thematically.’ Given you FINAL task is to add titles, or type over your videos, you might try adding & manipulating the type & titling to tie everything together. For instance you could add words over your existing videos and “dramatize” the words of a poem, a famous quote, or lyrics to a song that reflects what you shot in your videos. For instance, several people have shot outdoor videos: so they may use overlay a stanza from a well known poem or writer about the fall season and its meaning.
“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” Albert Camus, http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/keywords/autumn.html
“Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends” Green Day

Done by designer, Tibor Kalman. (NOTE: very elaborate, do NOT attempt this for Project 1!!!). Talking Heads – (Nothing But) Flowers, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3t5nmgRVMs

Dear Class:My apologies for having to call in and cancel our first class.
